A well-known, Swiss watch-making brand, Mido traces its roots back to first half of the 20th century, when, an ambitious watchmaker, George Schaeren, decided to create his own watch-making enterprise, in a place known as the cradle of today Haute Horology- the small town of Le Locle, located in the Swiss Jura Mountains.
Schaeren decided to name the company after a Spanish word – mido- the present form of the verb to measure, (yo mido) and he is the one that established the brand’s life-guiding principles and philosophy. He believed in a personal approach to the horological creation, and desired to bring to life timepieces that would reunite the basic qualities of a true friend. He believed that, just like seeing a good old friend, the watch’s owner should be delighted to see his/her timekeeping companion, should rely on it in any circumstances, and the timepiece should be suited to accompany him/her through his/her entire life.
